8 QuestionsWe offer several massage services, including sports massage techniques like myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and soothing Swedish massage. Whether you're looking for deep tissue relief or a relaxing session tailored to your needs, we have you covered. Additionally, Debbie offers Reiki Healing sessions for a comprehensive, holistic approach to your well-being.
A typical sports therapy session begins with a thorough evaluation to identify your unique needs and objectives. This process often involves a physical exam, an assessment of your range of motion (ROM), and testing of muscle strength. With this information, the therapist will develop a personalised treatment plan tailored just for you, incorporating manual therapy techniques, targeted exercises, and various rehabilitation strategies to ensure optimal recovery and performance.
Sports therapy may include manual therapy, soft tissue mobilisation, joint mobilisation, and stretching. It may also involve exercises and rehabilitation techniques to improve flexibility, strength, and endurance.
A sports massage is a dynamic, hands-on therapy that focuses on the body’s soft tissues—such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia—to boost athletic performance, accelerate recovery, and ward off injuries. Unlike a typical relaxation massage, a sports massage employs powerful techniques such as deep-tissue manipulation and trigger-point therapy. These targeted methods are designed to address muscle imbalances, alleviate tension, and relieve pain caused by physical activity. Whether you're gearing up for a big event or bouncing back from an intense workout, a sports massage is your go-to for optimal performance and well-being!
Reiki is a gentle form of energy therapy that involves hands-on techniques. It is designed to promote relaxation and reduce stress, while also enhancing emotional well-being. This holistic practice aims to balance the body's energy, facilitating a sense of peace and tranquility.
Reiki can be beneficial in alleviating common menopausal symptoms, including hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. This practice promotes relaxation and helps regulate hormonal balance by facilitating the flow of energy in the body.
Reiki is a complementary therapy that can be beneficial in addressing various conditions linked to emotional stress, chronic pain, fatigue, and trauma recovery. By promoting relaxation and balance, Reiki helps enhance overall well-being, making it an effective addition to other treatments.
Relaxation massage is characterised by gentle, flowing movements designed to alleviate muscle tension, enhance circulation, and foster an overall sense of well-being. This type of massage is particularly effective for stress relief and promoting mental rejuvenation, making it an excellent choice for those seeking to unwind and restore their mental clarity.

Absolutely. Every new client with an injury, acute or chronic, begins their journey with a comprehensive initial assessment, during which we listen to their history and goals and examine movement patterns before tailoring a personalised treatment plan. To simplify the process, use our Service Finder on the homepage to be matched with the perfect therapist in just under 60 seconds.
If you’re feeling sore or tight but not injured, consider booking a sports massage; it's ideal if an assessment doesn't seem necessary. For your convenience, we recommend 60 minutes for a well-rounded experience, 30 minutes for a focused treatment, and 120 minutes for an in-depth session.
If relaxation is your goal, indulge in a relaxation massage, or opt for a Reiki healing session if you’re interested in complementary therapies.
Just a note: only Debbie, our certified master Reiki healer, provides this unique service.
You'll receive confirmation of your appointment time and location. Please wear or bring comfortable clothing that allows access to the treated area. Your first sports therapy session will begin with a full assessment, so arrive ready to discuss your symptoms, activity levels, and what you're hoping to achieve.
Important Notice: Sports massage, relaxation, and Reiki sessions do not include assessment.
Sessions
4 QuestionsDeep tissue massage focuses on releasing tension in the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using slow, firm pressure. It is particularly effective for chronic muscle tightness, postural issues, and general muscular pain. Sports massage, while it also works deep into the tissues, is more targeted in its approach — addressing the specific demands placed on the body through physical activity, and incorporating techniques aimed at performance, recovery, and injury prevention. Both are valuable, and your therapist can help you decide which is most appropriate for your needs.
Absolutely. In fact, combining services often produces the best results. For example, a client recovering from a sports injury may benefit from sports therapy sessions alongside exercise prescription to rebuild strength and prevent recurrence. Similarly, Reiki can complement physical treatment by supporting stress reduction and overall wellbeing. Your therapist will discuss the most effective combination for your goals during your initial assessment.
Not exactly. While both involve hands-on treatment of the body's soft tissues, soft tissue therapy is a broader clinical term that encompasses a range of specific techniques — including myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and soft tissue release — applied with a therapeutic and rehabilitative purpose. Massage, particularly relaxation massage, is more focused on general tension relief and wellbeing. At Tonosis, our therapists draw from both depending on what your body needs.
Progress in sports therapy isn't always linear, but there are clear markers your therapist will track over time — including changes in your range of motion, pain levels, functional ability, and how your body responds between sessions. Your therapist will conduct regular progress reviews and be honest with you about how things are progressing. If your response to treatment suggests a different approach is needed, your plan will be adjusted accordingly. Most clients notice meaningful improvements within the first two or three sessions, though more complex or long-standing conditions may require a longer timeline.

The initial assessment is 45 minutes rather than a full 60 minutes. This is because once you leave, your therapist will need time to complete a SOAP note — a detailed clinical record capturing the findings from your assessment and the plan going forward. Within those 45 minutes, your therapist will always aim to include some hands-on manual therapy where possible, but this cannot be guaranteed. The time available for treatment depends on the nature of your injury and the extent of examination needed to fully assess its severity and characteristics. Follow-up sessions, by contrast, are fully dedicated to treatment from the start.
None. Our pricing is transparent from the start — what you see on our rates page is what you pay. The only variable is travel expenses for home visits, which we'll always confirm with you upfront. No surprise charges, no sign-up fees.
